Migrate OSCAR and data from Intel Mac to Silicon Mac

Migrate OSCAR and data from Intel Mac to Silicon Mac
I am currently running OSCAR (v 1.4) on an 2018 MacBook pro running Ventura (13.2.1).  I want to migrate it to a new silicon-based m2 MacBook.

Has anyone used OSCAR on a silicon Mac?  What would be the best way to migrate data from the old laptop to the new one?  I’m doing a clean install of apps so would need to reinstall OSCAR.

I also use the SPO2 Assistant (v 3.0.4) on a Windows 10 VM running on Parallels to copy data from a Contec CMS50F pulse oximeter.  Does anyone know if this software will work on an ARM-based Windows 11 running on Parallels?

Thanks

RE: Migrate OSCAR and data from Intel Mac to Silicon Mac
Many Mac users are running OSCAR on Apple Silicon (M1, M2). Apple has included "Rosetta 2" in the OS which will run Intel based apps.
You should be able to install a new version of OSCAR on your M2 , then copy your data folder to the new machine.

As for running an Arm Win11 VM and getting the oxi software to work....
I have read that the Arm version of Win11 has a built in emulator to run Intel based apps (similar to Rosetta 2 for Mac). I still run Intel hardware so have never tried the Arm based Win11 stuff.

Keep us updated.....

RE: Migrate OSCAR and data from Intel Mac to Silicon Mac
Okay.  I was able to get OSCAR running on my 2023 MacBook Pro (16") with an Apple M2 Max chip running Ventura 13.2.1.

To get it running, I copied the executable, the .plist preference file, and the data directory from my old computer and put them in their respective places on the new computer.  When I started OSCAR, all my profiles and data were there.  Yeah!

I successfully imported data using the Oximetry Import Wizard by connecting to the device.  I had to reboot the computer before OSCAR detected the CMS50.  Then OSCAR found the oximeter and imported the data.

I installed Parallels and then created a Windows 11 VM.  Parallels detected the pulse oximeter, but the SPO2 Assistant running on Windows 11 didn't detect the pulse oximeter.  Not sure why, but will investigate.

I am going to be doing this soon, with a similar situation. My old Mac is much older though--it's on Catalina. My new one is M2 14" MacBook Pro.

To confuse matters even more, I use FlashPAP and a wireless card in my CPAP machine. Hoping that behaves when I switch. I'm also changing CPAP machines soon. So....glad this board is here. I may have a question or two.

FlashPAP is a Java based app and will work if you have the new PC's runtime code for Java. All you need to do is copy the FlashPAP directory over to the new PC. As far as connecting to the FlashAir SD card, the communication is handled by your home network.
