More trouble with Resmed Airsense 11 Help
Hi again .
My disabled son uses this machine . We have had nothing but trouble with it . The 10 .. he used for 4 yrs with no problems. This is the second 11 !
Now he’s my problem.
I out the P 10 nasal pillows on my son . Turn the machine on . The ramp starts at 4 . I check on him 5 minutes later , he’s still wide awake and the ramp is at 16 !! Why ??
I checked the ‘ my air app and it says he has had 27 events in under a hour . He has not even had it on 5 minutes. This machine is stressing me out . We just received it in Oct of last yr . We replaced it once because it kept turning off by itself . Then this one did the same thing . A few of you told me to turn off the smart start and smart stop . I did that ..
I am pulling out my hair !
Sorry for all the misspelling. I’m worn out . ;(

You really need to use OSCAR, it is totally FREE software you can download at the top of the site. Without looking at that we would just be guessing. You need a SD card (not greater than 32mb) in the machine when he is sleeping.
With it we can help when you post a nights charts.

If your son had just 2 events in the 5 minutes of use, that would equate to an AHI of 24. The breathing pattern is very erratic while a person is awake and becomes rhythmic when asleep. These events while going to sleep and during the waking phase are referred to as Sleep-Wake-Junk (SWJ). In statistics, they would be considered artifacts.
Echoing Stacey's post above, I too, recommend that you look at the detailed sleep data from the CPAP to obtain a better picture of your son's difficulties. If the CPAP did not come with an SD card, you can use any SD card that is 4GB to 128GB in size for the AS11. The AS10 was limited to 32GB. If you had one for the AS10, it can be used if you format it (FAT32) prior to use.

Your problems are all user related, as far as settings on your machine.
We cannot see what is going on, cause we have no info. which could be obtained if you had Oscar
However, what strikes me is ...
You had a machine replaced which only had a menu item set incorrectly!
That should have been picked up by whoever sold you and setup the machine.
And that person should be qualified as a Sleep Technician of some type.
Your recent RAMP issue sounds again like a menu item.
Your machine has pressure control limits.
That is what happens with RAMP, it starts at a lower pressure and moves up.
Your son had a bunch of events, probably due to this menu item also being setup incorrectly.
You need to find someone who know how to setup the APAP machine, the RESMED Airsense 11.
I can pretty much assure you, even without seeing Oscar info, that you have a machine that WILL WORK OK, if you have it properly setup!
If everything was OK with your previous machine, who set that one up? Go see them or ask for that person!
EDIT: Moderator or Monitor, this person has multiple threads, i suggest merging them.

Hi .
We use the my air , as the provider set it up and his Dr has access to his data . Will the Oscar app still allow the provider and Dr access the same way ? Thank you

Yes provider will have full access assuming you remember to put the SD card back in when you finish downloading to your pc! And I'm thinking that once you get the machine set up the way your provider has had it set up in the past where you seemingly had no issues then you may not even need Oscar which could cause you some problems that you don't need.
Having said that the people here on this website that use Oscar are very well schooled with everything about sleep apnea and breathing etc etc and they usually find ways to make the therapy even better so it's your call.
Wishing you and your son all the best of health!

As others have said we need data. We also don't know how long the ramp is set for or if its on auto. The cpap looks for stable breathing it has no way to actually detect if the patient is asleep. I can almost guarantee the starting pressure is too low and the ramp may be making things worse
Breathe through your nose
Reduce sugar and processed food
Soft collar and seal your mouth
