Mouth Tape Hack

Mouth Tape Hack
I am a new cpap user but thought I would share something that helped me.  I have been mouth taping for years (Medvance Silicone tape) but just starting PAP therapy 2 months ago.  I quickly found out the silicone tape caused mouth leaks with my nasal pillows.  I researched and read and bought several types.  On this forum and lankylefty video I discovered KT tape!  I like it better that Coverall tape.  But both of them were challenging to remove on my aging skin.  One morning I had a raw bloody spot when taking it off!   I tried barrier cream with no luck.

Then I happened upon a post by Deborah K and she recommended Medline Prevent Silicone Cream.  I bought it on amazon and first night i used too much and had bad leaks.  But last night with just a thin layer,  my tape stuck just fine leaks rate low and the tape came off super easy with no pain this morning!  Just thought I would share as I have spent countless hours researching tape solution!   Thanks to the group, I have learned so much!

What is KT tape?  I thought I had watched all the Lanky videos. I’ve been using kinesiology tape.

RE: Mouth Tape Hack
KT tape is a nickname for kinesiology tape. I buy mine on Amazon, but I imagine many stores carry it too.
Machine:  ResMed AirCurve 10 Vauto

RE: Mouth Tape Hack
I had been using the Somnifix mouth strips for years and always had a lot of leaks. I watched LeftyLanky's video using the Coverall Stretch tape and decided to give it a try. My Leak Rate went from being in the 30's and 40's to zero. WOW I thought. But about once every week, with me being careful as to how I would pull it off it would tear my skin. I had read Deborah K's post about using Milk of Magnesia and thought that was the craziest thing I ever heard of. I finally tried it and it worked great and have been using it ever since. The only problem I found though is when you have to pull it off during the night, the tape will not stay sealed.
