Doctors and nurses - we need your expertise
It's highly expected that many hospitals in countries around the world will not cope with the numbers of patients expected to have Covid-19. There have been huge efforts by industry to come up with new, rapid-production ventilators, but these are all aimed at hospital use for critically ill patients and not suited for home use.

The thread http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread-...-pneumonia has grown to over 450 posts and has been seen by nearly 40,000 people. This demonstrates a huge concern among our membership.

Apnea Board would like to provide a distilled version of the information available, specifically on the use of CPAP / APAP / Bilevel machines as non-invasive ventilators for breathing support among patients who will not get access to critical care in hospital.  This could be considered as a last-ditch effort to support patients when normal medical care has become unavailable.

We will set up a small working group of senior AB members to research the latest ideas and advice and prepare some guidelines for people who need self-treatment. We come from a diverse range of backgrounds, but there are no medical practitioners on the group. We need to have medical or nursing input to ensure that the information we provide is sound, and not likely to do more harm than good. To this end, we are asking for input and advice from doctors or nurses who have expertise and experience in this area.

If you are a doctor or nurse with experience and expertise in critical care, especially relating to severe pulmonary conditions, please contact me if you can provide a small amount of your time.

Thank you.
