RE: Need help deciding between F&P Evora, or the Resmed f40
@SarcasticDave I never tighten the mask too much, as I was always told the looser the fit the better on most masks. With chin straps however both my DME and sleep doctors have said they usually do need to be tightened down pretty good. My sleep doctors are both very against chin straps in general saying that if you need a chinstrap, you should probably just go to a full face mask. This is why I am looking at the F40 and the Evora. My DME is going to give me one last free mask swap to try a full face.
Again, my two concerns with the F40 is the maintenance of the filter ring, as well as the slightly less secure seal versus the Evora. “Fart noises” have been a common complaint I’ve seen.
My two concerns with the Evora is the lack of a swivel and how that may impact active side sleeping, as well as the lack of any kind of diffuser and the placement of the exhaust ports potentially causing splash back air hitting me in the face. From the test I have seen the exhaust flow on the Evora is 500% greater than the F40.

I ended up doing the Evora. I’ll post updates here how it goes. First impression seems ok, had a bit of the “face farts” while trying to fit it, but was able to get to a point where I could toss to each side without it happening. Pressure got to 12 during the mask seal test. Seems fairly comfortable over all, and the position of the exhaust vents are not as bad as it seemed in videos/pics. The exhaust flow is definitely stronger than I’m used to with previous masks. Might take a little getting used to it but doesn’t seem terrible atm we’ll see how tonight goes. I’m definitely thinking positive though, fingers crossed this ones a winner

First night went great. Leaks were really low(12 LPM), and AHI was 1.3 so pretty good. Was fairly comfortable and all the concerns I had seem to be not big deals after all. First mask I’ve had that went 100% smoothly the first night. Fingers crossed these results stay consistent. I think I might have FINALLY found THE mask for me though.

If you'd like to track the therapy details, I'd suggest getting the free OSCAR report app. I myself never found much useful data with the MyAir. I figured if I'm putting the effort into the therapy, I should have useful and accurate info.

I dont have a laptop/pc or an SD card for it. Was interested in looking over the data at least every now and then but I just dont have a setup to do it. But the app/machine report should be good enough to tweak therapy as needed for now.
