Need help from CPAP users

Need help from CPAP users
Hi everyone,

I'm a university design student from Portugal and I'm working on a project that consists in designing a full face CPAP mask. I'm in charge of the creation of the headgear, cushion and frame. From the elbow forward it's not my responsibility.

Basically, I need your help to define what are the main problems that you all find using full face CPAP masks.

I appreciate everyone that can help.

Thanks

With full face masks, leaks and comfort seem to be most important.

Everyone's facial shape is a little different in both contours and size.

Discomfort can occur from strap irritation as well as the silicone cushion.

RE: Need help from CPAP users
i have the airfit f20

the velcro on the straps wear out after half a year.

the upper straps got longer over time
(maybe the plastic-holders did wear out. the twist and bend. but after half a year it stopped elongating.)
then they were longer then the opposing strip to velcro them on.

the strip did furthermore put pressure on my ear from above, which was painful.
the strip had to be shorter so the straps get away from my ears.

on the holders are fabric sleeves.. ..those get greasy and are just needed for sensitive people.
underneath the holders unfortunately have groves which are hard to clean.

ideally the headgear would be custom made for every head.
the mechanism for adapting the tightness could also be step-wise.
i used snap-fasteners, but ideally healthier plastic and finer steps, if so.

which product are you designing ?
can it be bought somewhere ?

Hi cexer,

First of all, thank you so much! I'm designing a full face CPAP mask and, right now, I'm trying to understand what can be improved in the comercialized ones. It takes time, a lot of research of opinions, materials, usability moves, etc.

Also, I'm sorry, I think this project will take a good amount of time to be comercialized and I don't know at all where it will be available.
