New MD, Old Machine!

New MD, Old Machine!
Hi, I’ve got a Resmed air curve 10 and a new doctor. He prescribed settings of 5-16 cm. My DME claims they can no longer adjust my machine, they want to sell me a new one.  Is this true or is this a money grab?

I tried setting it myself, using the S and V/Auto modes, with terrible results. Am I missing something? Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Bill

RE: New MD, Old Machine!
When you adjusted it yourself. Was it via the clinicians menu?  If so, this is the verification that your DME was lying to get insurance money for the aircurve 11.

ResMed A10 Series (AirSense 10 AutoSet, AutoSet for Her, Elite, CPAP, AirCurve 10 VAuto, S, ST, ASV, & CS PaceWave): For Setup Instructions with pictures, click here. The "dial" can be turned or pushed. The button below the screen with the house icon is called the "home" button. To access the clinician menu, press the dial and the home buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. The clinician menu will appear. Select parameter(s) you wish to modify with the dial (push down to select, turn to modify). When done, press the dial and home buttons for 3 seconds again, or find the "exit clinical menu" option in the menus.

Learn how to get into the clinical menu and take the AS10 back to your DME and have them demonstrate how the clinical menu has magically "gone away" If they still give you grief and won't let you witness that your machine is faulty. Then Complain to your states agency that deals with DME's.

And truth be told. What they did by claiming they can no longer get into the clinical menu and thus claiming you need a new machine. Well that sounds a lot like insurance fraud via false statements about your current working machine. So complain to your state insurance commission or even your insurance company.

There is a possibility that your machine is past its service life so your DME sees those hours on it and does not want to adjust it, but you can adjust it. 5 years old is when I get a new one via insurance.  I still get Airsense 10 due to not liking the 11 as well.
I only give suggestions from experience as a fellow CPAP user, not professional advice.

ejbpesca, that very well could be the case.
Would be nice if they would just say that. As opposed to saying they CAN NOT adjust it. Implying that it is not functioning correctly.

How many run hours on the ResMed 10, within the clinical menu?

Download OSCAR chart, and we could help with settings when you post the charts.

Attach OSCAR, etc.

The DME normally does changes to settings remotely. Many of the Airsense and Aircurve 10 devices have obsolete phone modems like CDMA. The current generation runs on LTE I think. Anyway, you can still access settings through the menu. If you qualify for a new device and the copay and deductible makes sense, then get it and use the old one as a standby. You can see the device hours in the clinical menu in the About section. How many run hours on your Aircurve?
