On track to getting first machine

On track to getting first machine
Hello all,
I recently completed an ASV titration study successfully and the doctor is initiating ASV treatment. This will be my first time doing PAP therapy.

I'm unsure about how the process of getting a machine will go from here, and I'm concerned that I might get ripped off by a DME supplier and maybe not get the machine I want. I have a high deductible health plan and I expect to hit that deductible pretty quickly this year. I believe that any online supplier will be out-of-network for me. The doctor's recommendations mention adding ISC to the Care Team and initiating RPM to ensure PAP compliance and treatment efficacy, and also following up to discuss results and treatment options. I don't know what all that means but it makes me think that their plan is to have me rent a machine and I would rather own one.

I'm posting here to see if you all might have any advice for me to keep in mind as I move forward, to make sure that I'm advocating for myself and getting the best possible treatment setup. Thank you!!

Welcome to Apnea Board,

If you need an ASV, request and only accept the ResMed AirCurve 10 ASV. A close second is the ResMed AirCurve 11 ASV. Either way, it's ResMed ASV only.

Contact your doctor and make sure they will agree to put ResMed ASV on your script order along with Dispense As Written.

If you go through Medicare, you have a copay with a 13 month rental, after which you own the ASV. That's standard operation procedure.

I also would call the DME and ask if they issue ResMed ASV if the order comes in. If they hint they would substitute, go elsewhere.
Mask Primer

Positional Apnea

Attach OSCAR, etc.

Thank you for the advice. I will insist on getting the ResMed.
