Please Help I am defeated
Good afternoon,

I am at a total loss right now. Been using my machine for over a year and feel like I havent recieved any type of relief. I had a stint where my AHI was very low and now its all over the place. I have all but given up recently. I have had 0 obstructive apnea events over the past year. Its either hypopnea or unclassified apneas. What data would you want me to post. I have no idea how to begin. I downloaded OSCAR as a hail mary. Please be kind!

Huh

Welcome! What would be especially helpful is to see a daily chart organized per these guidelines:

I'd also be curious why you have an ASV machine and why you're using it in CPAP mode. Could you let us know?

Intial sleep study show comnplex apnea but provider said she wasnt seeing any central at all on asv and cpap mode so they switched me to cpap. I will show you last nights.

Here was my initial study. They said the don't see any centrals in my nightly data so they switched me to cpap mode.

You have a ResMed ASV for a reason. Your test shows 29 Central Apnea to 2 Obstructive Apnea. It's time to use the ASV as an ASV. CPAP mode on ASV means static pressure, and is the reason you also have Unclassified events. Those are the CA you're actively not treating now.

Reset your settings. And make certain you use OSCAR to track your results.

ASV Auto mode
EPAP 5-13
PS 3-15

Look at the Titration guide and get it set to work better.

Positional Apnea

Attach OSCAR, etc.

Timmyg3, DO NOT let them get away with lying like that. It clearly showed centrals on your sleep lab report. Be forceful and advocate 'strongly' for yourself and show them that report and point to that central number.

And get another provider.

And there is another option along with the above. The great folks on this forum that have experience with machines for true CA's will likely provide the help your provider is refusing to give you. Which as a APAP user is not me. I can only provide moral support.

The Central Apnea can, and probably do, diminish with on CPAP. Here's the key item though, not consistently and you can only treat Central Apnea with ASV. You can only avoid CA with other machines that don't have a backup breath rate similar to the ASV. Read that as the ventilator type of machine.

Central Apnea also are always consistently inconsistent, meaning they're event count is up, down, zero, up again, with no setting edit.

Somebody thought you needed the ASV, it's not the standard issue machine. Bonus info, the one that told you CPAP can handle your CA isn't very competent at therapy control.
