In VAuto mode, assuming you have ramped turned off, you start each session with your IPAP equal to your min EPAP plus your PS. The machine will increase your EPAP as needed, leaving the PS unchanged. Your IPAP will equal your EPAP plus your PS. The EPAP will not continue to rise unless it's necessary, but if does continue to rise it will stop when your EPAP plus your PS equals your max IPAP.

Let's take my settings as an example. I have min EPAP set at 5.2 and my PS is set at 4.4. That means I start each sleep session with a EPAP of 5.2 and a IPAP of 9.6. If my breathing patterns indicate a higher pressure is needed the EPAP and IPAP will rise, and if necessary continue to rise until the EPAP reaches 9.2, and the IPAP reaches 13.6.
