2 years ago I had an in home sleep test done which revealed I have mild sleep apnea. My AHI was 17.3.
I was given an ResMed Airsense 10. I'm a 36 yearvold male. I can't quite remember what the fixed pressure was but I think it may have been 14. From day one I never/have never felt this overwhelming sense of feeling so much better/refreshed etc. I understood though in the beginning that it was going to be an adjustment getting used to the machine etc. The Months went by and I was still feeling tired, brain fog, concentration issues etc. Then I learned that I could tap into the settings more and I began to follow certain recommendations I read on reddit etc. First thing I changed was from CPAP to Auto, and I set a range (this was 2 years ago so I can't exactly remember what it was but it definitely improved things for a while). However as time went on the same complaints started happening.
Last year I also lost a significant amount of weight (started Zepbound) and went from 239 lbs to now 178 lbs. I share this just incase it may be pertinent?
Now without going on too much, the overal summary. Over the past 2 years I have messed with trying out so many settings, pressure, humidifier on humidifier levels, humidifier off (which I feel works better for me) EPR and the different levels (I feel off works better for me. I persisted with a medium mask for the last 1.5 years and then changed to a large and actually did feel and notice a good difference with that change. I use the nasal mask. Oh, another thing, from day one I was dealing with the hurricane coming out my mouth being a mouth breather. I eventually found a chin strap to help with this and that improved things. However the past like 4 months have literally been hell. I honestly feel like week upon week I'm losing my mind more and more. Holding lengthy conversations is a choir and I zone out. I honestly feel worryingly bad. Now today I have decided I'm definitely going to get in touch with my doctor and try and figure this out and speak to someone, however I wanted to come and ask here first in the meantime.
The past while I have felt my chin strap not working as well and still mouth breathing, so this past week I tried mouth tape for the first time. I'm not waking myself up with the mouth noises but I still feel absolutely garbage. (I tried a full face mask for a while but that was just a big no no).
Last thing, I just last night for the first time ever, put in an SD card into the machine. So I only have 1 night of data (more I know would have been helpful). My AHI has always read 'great' on MyAir, around 0.7 - 1.5, but I'm feeling horrible and it's not reflecting it. I honestly have never felt any real significant improvement from cpap and its been 2 years.
Please, can anyone ask me more question if needed or recommend any settings to lean towards that can help me feel better? ?
