Please please help - Serious brain fog!

Please please help - Serious brain fog!
Ok, first of all hi there. Just came across the group on a reddit post and decided to check it out. Really hoping this can be a place where I can finally find some answers from fellow Cpap users.

2 years ago I had an in home sleep test done which revealed I have mild sleep apnea. My AHI was 17.3.
I was given an ResMed Airsense 10.  I'm a 36 yearvold male. I can't quite remember what the fixed pressure was but I think it may have been 14. From day one I never/have never felt this overwhelming sense of feeling so much better/refreshed etc. I understood though in the beginning that it was going to be an adjustment getting used to the machine etc. The Months went by and I was still feeling tired, brain fog, concentration issues etc. Then I learned that I could tap into the settings more and I began to follow certain recommendations I read on reddit etc. First thing I changed was from CPAP to Auto, and I set a range (this was 2 years ago so I can't exactly remember what it was but it definitely improved things for a while). However as time went on the same complaints started happening.

Last year I also lost a significant amount of weight (started Zepbound) and went from 239 lbs to now 178 lbs. I share this just incase it may be pertinent?

Now without going on too much, the overal summary. Over the past 2 years I have messed with trying out so many settings, pressure, humidifier on humidifier levels, humidifier off (which I feel works better for me) EPR and the different levels (I feel off works better for me. I persisted with a medium mask for the last 1.5 years and then changed to a large and actually did feel and notice a good difference with that change. I use the nasal mask. Oh, another thing, from day one I was dealing with the hurricane coming out my mouth being a mouth breather. I eventually found a chin strap to help with this and that improved things. However the past like 4 months have literally been hell. I honestly feel like week upon week I'm losing my mind more and more. Holding lengthy conversations is a choir and I zone out. I honestly feel worryingly bad. Now today I have decided I'm definitely going to get in touch with my doctor and try and figure this out and speak to someone, however I wanted to come and ask here first in the meantime.

The past while I have felt my chin strap not working as well and still mouth breathing, so this past week I tried mouth tape for the first time. I'm not waking myself up with the mouth noises but I still feel absolutely garbage. (I tried a full face mask for a while but that was just a big no no).

Last thing, I just last night for the first time ever, put in an SD card into the machine. So I only have 1 night of data (more I know would have been helpful). My AHI has always read 'great' on MyAir, around 0.7 - 1.5, but I'm feeling horrible and it's not reflecting it. I honestly have never felt any real significant improvement from cpap and its been 2 years.

Please, can anyone ask me more question if needed or recommend any settings to lean towards that can help me feel better? ?

RE: Please please help - Serious brain fog!
Welcome to the  forum,
Please  post a copy of your sleep report with your info redactr.
Are you a side sleeper?
Any other health issues that may affect your breathing or sleep?
Any medications that may affect your breathing or sleep?

Make  sure the chin strap was under the chin and only pulls straight up, not back at all. Pulling the jaw back would make your apnea worse.
Are you using 2x5 strips of athletic tape?
consider a Somnoseal device that goes just inside your mouth and seals well, i still use tape.

Yes, I'm a side sleeper. No other health issues that would effect my breathing. Unfortunately since putting in an SD card for the first time last night it's not recorded the data, so I'm gonna have to look into why that was. I've tried an anti snoring mouth guard in the past but not with cpap. Used it for a period around a year ago when I was so frustrated with the machine I turned to it instead.

It's the 3M Nexcare tape that I'm currently using. I really need to try something different to get a hold of this brain fog, its getting so bad these days. Last night I woke up with a dry mouth after taping, i had increased my pressure from 14 to 16, I'm thinking I may have to put it back down tonight. Just desperately trying to find the right combo of things to hopefully yield success.

I know when I can put up some nightly data that then people will be able to help more.
