Pokey49 - Therapy Thread
RE: Pokey49 - Therapy Thread
I juxtaposed the flow limit data into the pressure chart. Can you see a bit more of a correlation? You had Hypopnea events that also raised the pressure.

RE: Pokey49 - Therapy Thread
Pokey, I do think you are at that rough point that many of us deal with. And that's not sleeping well despite a low AHI OA score. And we are all different in how sensitive we are to variances in our sleep environment. Whether it be the barking dog next door, Getting used to wearing a mask and dealing with hoses while sleeping, The treatment pressure changes.

For me, I'm fighting with my dry eye waking me up in the middle of the night and having to put eye drops in. So it can be that it has nothing or everything to do with apnea treatment.

And that leads us to Doug suggesting you go as near to CPAP as you can, without switching your machine to cpap mode. (which in reality is quite easy to do) Just go into the clinical settings like you have been. The very first thing you see is "autoset" push this and the sub- menu pops up that has "cpap" "autoset" "for her".

This will help to see if it is the variances in pressure (no matter how subtle they may be) that are causing you to not have restful sleep with a low AHI OA score.

What does those two graphs mean as to why my AHI is low, my CAs are higher than I’d like and I’m waking up feeling like hell

I figured out how to change the machine to near cpap mode. I do wish I understood what all these graphs mean though so I didn  try have to bug you guys so much.

You are not bugging anyone.

It's like anything. Be it school, driving, golf, relationships, Etc....
At the beginning we are mostly rubbish. And with reading, experience & time we can learn enough to get by and for a lucky few, master what is in front of us.

One last question today. Will matter with pressure recommended if I switch mask types or should I stick with the mask (N30i) I’ve been using the past couple days. I wanted to try a nasal again with a 1size smaller pillow

No need to change the pressures if you are going to change from the F40 to the N30i. Have a good night.

You have a wealth of information at the top of this page within Wiki and OSCAR.

Keep your pressure when you change masks.  Adjust later if needed after reviewing results.

Feeling poorly due to poor sleep can have many sources and getting used to PAP therapy can be one of them.

Higher pressure can cause leaks.  Over 12cm cranks up Large Leaks for me but others use much higher pressures with few leaks.  You have four ways to know your mask has Large Leaks on OSCAR.  Other than those, any air from the mask is normal and takes getting used to.

Getting accustomed to PAP therapy is daunting.  Some adapt quickly, it took me many months, and some give up.  I still have issues 18 years in but get help here and other sources like videos to deal and cope with them.

I had to tighten my straps down again last night and it worked to reduce lLarge Leaks but puffs of air can come from the mask easily when I move during sleep.  April 1, a new cushion goes on and strops will be loosened.

Hope you are having a good night,

Good Morning EJ, Doug and Super Pilot:

Attached is last nights Oscar report. I made it until 3:30 when I woke up feeling like I had an clammy octopus on my face sucking the life out of me  Too-funny  I did start out setting the pressure 8-9 with EPR 1 as advised  but after about 20 minutes I just felt like I was not getting enough air so I bumped it up  to 10 max and went to sleep. I could not  seem to stop the big leaks at 3:30 and ended up taking the mask off for the rest of the night. A noticeable difference this morning is I feel better, I don't seem to be as tired and cranky like some other mornings. But I see Im still having CA's though my AHI is low. I'm going to spend some time today looking at resources here to see if I can understand all this data  a bit better.
