I forgot something for my cpap on a trip 3 years ago. So for a week I only used a chin strap and my mouth guard. I didn't sleep well and had little energy.
So yeah, my body got used to the cpap benefits, I triple check my cpap stuff when traveling.

My body needs the therapy from cpap, I felt like crap before cpap, sleeping badly.

RE: Pokey49 - Therapy Thread
That is a very good question I will attempt to research. Where it especially applies is for those who test out with a low AHI yet acquire CPAP gear and start therapy. Do they run the risk of developing severe apnea due to the therapy and becoming dependent on PAP therapy to breathe during sleep or not breathe as well while awake due to therapy?
An example is a person told not to start CPAP therapy because they tested with an AHI low enough to be considered normal. The person took a second home apnea test and it showed AHI of just below mild apnea. Feeling poorly upon waking the person acquired a used CPAP machine without a prescription and via the net learned to set pressures. The person continued to get poor quality sleep. Could the use of PAP therapy lead to mild apnea becoming moderate or severe? I have not found the answer to that question. What I found is that those with sleep apnea are dependent on their CPAP machines to get better sleep and feel better. I think there is a possibility apnea becoming worse with the therapy requiring more pressure with time but probably not 3 months. After 19 years I suspect I need more pressure for more reasons than the therapy itself causing it. I seem to be at least be breathing okay while awake. How I feel upon waking after therapy has varied day to day for 19 years but overall when PAP is affective I do not feel the desperate need to fall asleep within 3 hours after waking. Here's a thread here on the topic of CPAP dependency: Does CPAP usage make you dependent on or addicted to the therapy? I can't get the thread link to copy/paste. It is a G. Szabo thread. Several have posted their opinions on addiction to CPAP/BPAP therapy. Some feel they can't sleep without it. I use a Mac. How do I copy/paste a link. I cannot to the usual swipe over a link then select copy, they won't swipe. Does CPAP usage make you dependent on or addicted to the therapy? Does CPAP usage make you dependent on or addicted to the therapy?

It's a good day when we learn something that makes life a little easier. There might be a diff way to link to an internal forum thread. Might have to check at the forum rules and such on the main page.

RE: Pokey49 - Therapy Thread
Last nights OSCAR. My AHI is almost exclusively due to CAs. From what I can tell pressure spikes are not the clear cause of them. I woke up about 6am feeling air starved. I had to finally take off the mask so I could get enough air. The summary at the left said my leak rate was minimal. I feel much better this morning than yesterday which was a bust. I dont know what is causing the CAs and the SOB at then end of the night????????

Are you focusing on numbers a bit much? You just said you felt better than yesterday.
I'm thinking those CA are going into SWJ territory, that is sleep wake junk. If you really think those CA are an issue, or if otherwise the therapy is not comfortable, request going up to bilevel ResMed AirCurve 10 or 11 VAuto.
