RE: Pokey49 - Therapy Thread
That's just what breathing looks like in my opinion. We're not after exactly smooth graphs, but controlled Apnea. Possibly any movement during sleep might interrupt the inherent calm looking chart.
Did you sleep well or not?
Mask Primer
Positional Apnea
Attach OSCAR, etc.

Did I sleep well?? Well it’s a mixed bag. I think I have gained the benefits of PAP and am feeling better as a result. BUT did I overall sleep WELL ?? No!!! I’ve got body pain & what I think is a medication issue complicating the picture. PAP can’t solve all my old age issues I guess. But I really feel bipap has been a big improvement for me along with your alls recommendations to help me out which I sincerely appreciate. Hopefully things will tend to improve as time progresses.

The spikes and irregular breathing in the graph above is typical of awake breathing. I see several breath-holds, swallows and just a lot of irregularity. This is all within 15 minutes of putting on the mask. Were you by any chance reading or watching TV?
RE: Pokey49 - Therapy Thread
I wish I had a n example graph that showed a peaceful rest. Despite reading the wiki and the input I have received, these charts are still confusing to me.
RE: Pokey49 - Therapy Thread
I typically read for 45 minutes then put on my mask about 10. Turn out the lights and listen to a soothing “soundscape” from my CALM app such rain on a tent, do mindful breathing for about 30 minutes and then roll over and go to sleep. I’m usually asleep in 5 minutes. It’s the middle of the night stuff that messes with my rest. So I guess those choppy graphs at the beginning of my Oscar report is mostly from my mindful breathing exercises. Never dawned on me until now.

I would think that being on the machine AND doing breathing exercises is a sure fire way to throw your AHI into turmoil. I recall that I one time I did a recalculation on your night. After removing that junk at the beginning, your AHI was quite low (approaching ZERO) with hardly a CA in sight. HMMM!
And this also raises the question of what happens to one's AHI and other reported treatment data when folks recommend just wearing the machine while awake to 'get used to it' Does it skew the results enough to cause a person to misinterpret their treatment quality? I ask this because the machine regardless of it having an SD card or not, it will record and combine the results of all treatment sessions throughout the day.

Super7Pilot,
Oscar lets you uncheck sessions that are not relevant to your sleep. See the lower left sessions area.
Plus we encourage people to go by how they feel, not AHI numbers after all.
RE: Pokey49 - Therapy Thread
SuperPilot. I don’t do exercises per se I do gentle meditative mindful breathing. Simply focusing on my in-breath & out-breath to the soothing soft sound of rain on a tent which takes me mentally back to being camped on my favorite river in Alaska in the fall listening to it rain while snuggled in my sleeping bag ? A place that I was always at peace.
RE: Pokey49 - Therapy Thread
Pokey,
I also do light foot stretches with my feet and gentle breathing with my mask on as I fall asleep.
I Use a 5 -10 minute ramp with a pressure near my minimum.
RE: Pokey49 - Therapy Thread
Which is cool IF you know about it. I'm on here everyday and never knew about that.
