Post covid: do I need a heated hose?
I had covid (2nd time) a few weeks ago. For a couple of weeks I couldn't use the CPAP, now I'm back to using it but I wake up after a couple of hours feeling dry and/or cold in my nose, and I can't keep the mask on. I'm using the humidifier, would a heated climateline hose help? The humidifier doesn't seem to warm the air.
Thanks

It sounds like you would be much more comfortable with a heated hose.  It doesn't really get that warm, but does take the chill off.

In the meantime, maybe try a soft fleece hose cover for your current hose.  It may help a little.

I keep my heated hose connected all year.  When it's warm out, I turn down the temp so that the air is cooler.  But during the winter season, I prefer some warmth coming from that hose.

To each his own, it is a personal preference.

Thanks opalrose, I already have a soft cover that covers most of the hose. But I've seen people writing that you can adjust the temperature of the hose to make it warmer or less warm according to preference. Are you saying that I won't be able to make the air really warm so it may not make much of a difference?

With a ClimateLine heated hose, you can set the humidifier and tube temp to either
Auto or Manual.

In Auto, the temperature and humidity will adjust to the ambient room temperature and humidity in your room.

If set to Manual, you can set the tube temperature independently up to 86 Degrees F.
(I definitely feel the warmth with that setting.)  Humidity can be set between
1 and 8.

All of this is explained better in the Provider Manual (page 11) which you can order here:

BTW, I also use a hose cover with my heated hose just for comfort reasons.

RE: Post covid: do I need a heated hose?
Thanks very much for the advice! I received the hose yesterday, set it on Auto, and was finally able to keep the mask on for 6 hours. Much more pleasant. Now I just have to work on getting my clear airway apneas down again after not having used CPAP properly for several weeks.
