[Pressure] No air forced out with mouth open

No air forced out with mouth open
I have Central Sleep Apnea and was having success with my ASV machine and my AHI averaging 2.1 for the past six months. Three weeks ago my AHI went up to 19 and is averaging in the middle teens. I checked the machine settings and nothing has changed. I noticed yesterday that I do not get a rush of air when I open my mouth, I use a nasal mask. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

G'day dragonflyoh. Are you aware of anything that changed at the time your AHI went up? Different mask, different pressure settings etc. The fact that you're not getting any air through the mouth suggests there may be a significant lack of pressure from the blower or a major leak somewhere in the circuit. It would help if you could share a #SleepyHead daily chart for a night before the change and a night after it, so we can see if anything significant shows up.

The other possibility for no air from the. Mouth is successful application of the tounge technique to stop mouth breathing. That is normal for me.

I do suggest that you post your daily charts. I do suggest a 2nd chart w events, mask Pressure, and respiration, volume minute and tidal charts

RE: No air forced out with mouth open
I made an appointment with my pulmonologist and she reviewed the charts and had my machine tested for pressure. Everything was normal except the AHI reading. We reviewed my medications and the AHI reading followed an increase in my Lipitor from 10 mg to 20 mg. I also had some other issues at the same time as the Lipitor increase so we stopping the Lipitor. It will take about two weeks to see if that is the issue. Thanks for the reply's and I will keep you posted on what happens.

Took a bit longer than anticipated for the AHI to get back under 5. It is under 5 now and has been for 7 days. Thanks for the support. This is a great place to get help.

Yes, I agree
Using FlashAir W-03 SD card in machine. You can download your data through wifi with FlashPAP or Sleep Master utilities.

I wanted to learn Binary so I enrolled in Binary 101. I seemed to have missed the first four courses. Big Grinnie

Stick it to the man, Download OSCAR and take back control of your data!

Thanks Ian. Like I didn't have enough Honey-Do projects to tackle. Mornincoffee

I think it's very interesting that Lipitor apparently caused a huge ahi increase. I suspect a lot of us are prescribed Lipitor or its generic equivalent.
