RAINOUT AFFECTING MY LUNGS- HELP PLEASE
#11
RE: RAINOUT AFFECTING MY LUNGS- HELP PLEASE
Are you absolutely positive that  hose heater is working properly?  Is  the hose warm when touched?    This is a question of physics so the water must be coming from somewhere .   It does sound to me like the room is not warm enough to keep the ambient humidity from causing condensation. So as has been previously mentioned, turning off the room humidifier and/or increasing room heat should rectify the problem.

No I ran both hoses for 30-45 minutes and they both are not heating. Either it’s the hoses or the machines are defective.
I’ve lived here for 15 years and have never ever turned the heat on. It’s not cold in Arizona. I get rainout even if the standalone humidifier is off.

When you refer to getting rainout, is this condensation that you are seeing inside the tube, or based on the sensation you get when trying to breathe?

Water hits my nose and it’s in the tube. Physical water every day I have to drain from the tube.

And of course hits the mask. So tube is drained and hung to dry along with the bleep eclipse ports.

That sounds so annoying!

Try raising the room temperature to 68 or 69 if you can, just for one night.  If it helps then you can gradually see how low you can set it without rainout.

Also raising the temperature for at least one night may help to thoroughly dry out your tube.  It's almost impossible to get tubes really dry just by hanging them up.

Good luck!

I would try a new climate line hose first, and if that doesn't fix the problem, contact your sleep doc and tell them the the machine is broke and get new equipment.

You mentioned too that the condensation occurs even when you didn't use water in the tank and had the climate settings turned off. That would lead me to think there is an air leak in the machine and your own warm exhaled breath is causing the issue. When you remove the water tank there is a clip with a silicone washer that holds the hose mout to the CPAP. There are instructions for cleaning, but I would make sure that connection point is secure and the silicone grommet isn't damaged.

Increasing the temperature in the bedroom can help. I use a snuggle skins for 6-8 foot tubing on my heated tube. That covers the tube from end to end with no gaps. You might want to use a nasal pillows mask like the Resmed Airfit P10 which is not fastened to your nose with tape until you resolve this problem.

RE: RAINOUT AFFECTING MY LUNGS- HELP PLEASE
Following up on enjoysleep59's comment, how long have you had this machine?  Mine started making a weird noise recently, a few months outside the two-year warranty.  I called my DME who sent me a loaner machine, and I sent my machine back to them.

First my DME said they would repair it, then they told me they sent it to ResMed for repair, and then they said I should just keep the loaner that they said was new.  I informed them that the loaner definitely wasn't new because it had a strong smell of cleaner or dryer sheets or something when it arrived, indicating it had previously been loaned to someone else.  Then they checked around and found that ResMed had sent them a bunch of new machines to replace the ones they had sent in for repair.  They hadn't contacted me when the new machines came in because ResMed hadn't listed who the machines were for.  Finally putting two and two together, my DME sent me a brand new AirSense11 with zero hours on it!!!

All this took about three months and a number of phone calls on my part, but it was well worth it.  I'm not implying any lack of competence on the part of my DME.  Having managed projects, I can tell you that it's a constant struggle against entropy, the sheer number of clients, the number of items being processed in computer systems that aren't ideal for every eventuality.  It's up to the project manager -- YOU, in this case -- to keep your requirement from falling by the wayside in the avalanche of other tasks on people's desks.

So I would recommend that you follow up on enjoysleep59's suggestions.  Talk to your DME, see if you can get them to send you a loaner machine, and see if that works better.  Talk to your doctor and see if they can submit an order to your DME for a new machine.

Keep notes on what you did and when, who you talked to, their phone numbers, copies of any document, and follow up regularly.  Be polite and persistent, treat each person as someone who wants to help you, not matter how frustrated and tired you may be feeling.  Good luck and please let us know how this goes.
