ResMed Autoset for Her -- Experiences?
I've been trying to figure out settings etc. in another thread as I have a good AHI, but I'm still exhausted. I'm going through trying different settings to see if it helps.
So. Last night I discovered that there is an "Autoset for Her" setting on the ResMed AirSense 11. I found the page on the Wiki about it
https://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.ph...et_for_Her
My understanding is that the AirSense 10 had a whole different device, but now it is an optional setting. It seems to make some adjustments for the differences in time it takes women to fall asleep and smaller increments of pressure increase to help with better flow limitation. If I am not understanding that correctly, please let me know!
Has anyone used this setting? Do you feel like it helped in any way?
If I were to give it a trial, would that change the way I set EPR?
Thanks!

I tried it for a short time , probably 10 min. And it wasn’t for me. The only way you know is to experiment.
Im a retired old guy who reconditioned his wife’s old machine is why I have one to begin with. It was a AS10

menmh
The link you provided from WIKI says women have more UARS and flow limitation, and this setting will adjust pressure SLOWER, which is good if you think pressure swings wake you up.
That is my issue, though i am male.
I have used, seemed ok for awhile, when i use a pressure range.
But i always go back to CPAP, constant pressure, once i find where the auto seems to take me, if that makes sense?
Anyway, give it a try, it wont hurt you! LOL
Here is another thread with same conversation about auto for her....

RE: ResMed Autoset for Her -- Experiences?
Thanks for links. It is hard to find things from years back easily.
Seeing that it made things worse for some was interesting.
SeePak, I think it isn't just the slower pressure increase, but it also does it SOONER on this setting.
I don't have time to do a deep dive right now, but it looks like there are several studies looking at the physiological differences in sleep apnea between men and women. It also looks like whether women are pre or post menapausal could be a factor.

I have a month until my appointment with the sleep neurology, and I want to have as much information and data as I can to make of the most the appointment. Who knows if I'll get in again, lol.

I had the ResMed AirSense 10 for her. I ended up using the standard setting instead, as it improved my therapy.

RE: ResMed Autoset for Her -- Experiences?
I used this setting for a while, but it made my pressure go up and then stay high without fluctuations at all, at it wasn't helping me or improving my symtoms. I've heard it's common that this setting have this effect, but possibly not for everyone.
RE: ResMed Autoset for Her -- Experiences?
Hi,
I tested the setting and for me it gets things worse so I decided to get back to the regular setting.
You can find my Oscar readings with and without here

In fact it worsens positional apnea in my case and I noticed this after more than 2 months. The difference is remarkable .
RE: ResMed Autoset for Her -- Experiences?
Just read the wiki which says
an increased sensitivity to flow limitation,
The AfH algorithm has been designed to be more sensitive to flow limitation by responding to the first identified flow-limited breath rather than requiring three consecutive flow-limited breaths, as occurs with the standard AutoSet algorithm.
Would that mean it is simply normal to see more flow limitations than the normal algorithm? In which case we should all test it and use it as a fine sensor for those flow limitations?

Wow. I didn't know that, but my flow limitations didn't go up/change in any direction with the AfH on. It only didn't help at all, the pressure staying high without any fluctuations were not helpful for me. I saw a video on youtube explaining why it can cause that, but possibly it works for some.
RE: ResMed Autoset for Her -- Experiences?
I'm sorry to read your pressure does not change at all... for me it is working fine, it's just me seeing all those flow limitations and interpreting they should get down... What did you do to get the therapy better?
