[CPAP] Morning Watery Eyes
#1
Morning Watery Eyes
Hi - I have been a 100% compliant CPAP user since September 2019. Since starting CPAP therapy I have noticed that my eyes are very watery first thing in the morning. My ophthalmologist recently checked my eyes and found no problem.  He did comment that many of his CPAP patients have commented on "morning watery eyes" and that all have stated it is gone by the afternoon. My average leak rate is 0.28 with a 95% leak rate of 2.40. Is "morning watery eyes" a common problem? Any solution?

Thank you,

Tom

My problem is opposite. I wake up with very dry eyes and if any air at all blows in my eyes, they are super dry by morning.

The watery eyes could be seasonal allergies.

It's common for air to leak around the nose blowing directly at the eyes. I sleep with a sleep mask on my eyes and it solves the problem.

Hi jaswilliams, OpalRose and ardenum - Problem solved!!

I ended up dropping my max pressure from 20 to 15 which stopped the mask from blowing off and fluttering. I also started with a silk sleep mask. After these two changes, the watery eye issue has disappeared.

Thank you for your help.

Glad that worked out for you!  There's nothing worse than having your eyes irritated let alone your mask blowing off.   Smile

Is it a problem even with a pillow mask?
