Reworked dream station recall

Reworked dream station recall
Can someone explain the reworked dream station recall. Not the recall for the foam. They reworked the ones with the foam issue and sent out those reworked ones. They recalled the reworked ones also due to a serial number issue.

My question is how do I know if my reworked dream station is recalled? Is there a serial number I can look up? It says it can give inappropriate therapy leading to heart failure and death without and you won’t know it because the numbers will look normal on the machine.

Sucks. I feel good on this machine but fearful it may kill me. I don’t want to go on airsense 10 because I feel crappy on it even though the numbers say it’s good. Those numbers don’t meany anything I’m starting  to believe.

RE: Reworked dream station recall
With the original recall, Philips sent notices to all Dreamstation users, so I imagine they will do the same this time.  Their recall website probably already lists the serial numbers of the affected devices.  You could go there and see if yours is on the list.

All the experts consider the ResMeds to be the best machines.  Perhaps your settings were not correct.  If you try yours again and post Oscar charts, we could probably help you get the best out of the machine.  My husband and I both switched to ResMeds and feel incredibly better with them.

There is a small minority here who actually like the Dreamstations.  Hopefully, Philips will be faster at sending the replacement machines this time.

Best wishes for getting this resolved soon!  Smile

Ok I added the sad card because the new airsense did not come with one. Let me get 3 days data going and I will upload. Thank you.

I think this may be the recall you are referring to.........(?)
https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/c...?id=198972

I found the FDA link on this site and it explains how some machines having incorrect serial numbers may have incorrect settings assigned to them.

I have both a DreamStation 2 (DME supplied and paid for by Medicare/Insurance) and an AirSense 10 (bought from private seller so I have a backup). The AirSense10 to me delivers therapy more aggressively than the DreamStation 2 and it does take some tweaking of the settings to get it so it's comfortable through the night.

Yeah my concern with the airsense is that it wakes me up a lot. It doesn’t matter what my ahi is if I am not sleeping deeply I’ll be exhausted.

RE: Reworked dream station recall
It says the affected dream station one may cause heart attacks and heart failure. Does this mean the usual sleep apneas raise the risk of these things or does it mean it cause really high pressure that actually causes heart failure? And how do I trust these people to know ehich ones are affected when the ones the replaced in the recall may cause heart failure.

I’ve felt terrible for years on resumed airsense thinking I was being successfully “treated” with a low ahi. But if you are waked every 15 minutes of the night none of that matters. I think maybe an elevated bed or oral appliance might help.
