RE: Runny Nose
Hi Chief,
Welcome to Apnea Board!

It sounds like you may be getting too much humidity.  Try lowering it a bit.  Also, using a heated hose with a fleece type hose cover helps with rainout.

Which AirSense do you have, AirSense 10 AutoSet or Elite?  If you have one of these machines, they are both data capable, and can be used with #SleepyHead software.

When you have time, please update your profile with correct machine name, mask name, pressure setting, etc.

Also, you can order the Clinicians Manual here:

Good luck and let us know how we can help.

RE: Runny Nose
Are you inclined to have Hay fever?
Sometimes, not often people get the affects of Hay fever, or affects of bed mites or just dust affecting you like Hay fever.
Some machines come with a fine filter to help with this, others, you can get one.
Most people suffer from dry noses and not runny noses.

Not saying it is the above, but keep it in mind, there is a lot of air passes through the machine and mask that normally would not get near you.

RE: Runny Nose
Hi Folks
I too get a runny nose in the morning. I have been using a CPAP for 20 years with great success. I sleep well and daytime fatigue is eliminated. I have used a series of different machines. My current is a Resmed Airsense Auto 10 and I love it. Quietest machine ever and easy to breath.
I have always had a runny nose in the morning but not during the night. I don't know if this is related to CPAP use. I also get a runny nose when outside in cold weather, freezing or below.
I have never used a humidifier and have not experienced any dry nasal passages. Just the opposite, I have a wet runny nose.

RE: Runny Nose
It's possible that your runny nose is a reaction to dry air. Lack of humidity can cause lots of different issues, from congestion, runny nose, dry nose and much more. If you're comfortable fine, but a humidifier is a good thing for most people. Noting your machine is a pretty old model, and probably due for replacement.

RE: Runny Nose
Hi Sleeprider
Thank you for the kind reply. I haven't tried a humidifier in a long time. I have one for my Resmed 10. Maybe I should give it a try. BTW. isn't the Resmed 10 their most recent model?

RE: Runny Nose
The 10 series is the latest and greatest. What model, Autoset, Elite or CPAP?
