Setting for nasal pillow vs full face mask

Setting for nasal pillow vs full face mask
My mother is in residential nursing care and must wear a bi-pap. She had been using 3 different full face masks but got a sore on the ridge of her nose. She has been given a nasal pillow to use, but there isn't a respiratory technician on staff at her facility. No one can tell me if there should be a change in the liters/minute of the oxygen concentrator (it is currently set at 7lpm) or the bi-pap machine itself. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

RE: Setting for nasal pillow vs full face mask
Hi Doug8910, welcome aboard
As far as machine goes, you don,t need to make any adjustment with change of mask. I don,t know about oxygen concentrator, isn't there a resident doctor at the nursing care facility

Mask liner placed between silicone mask cushion and her face can help with the irritation on her nose, ask not over tighten the straps
Edit: what machine she is using
Resmed machines, you need to change mask type setting
Phillips Respironcis machines, you need to change mask resistance setting
Both are not a big deal if not adjusted

Hi Doug8910,
WELCOME! to the forum.!
Hang in there and someone who knows the ins and outs of BIPAP machines will be able to help you.
Do you know what kind of machine she has, that will help[ others to be able to better assist you?
Best of luck to you and your Mom.
