Snoring under PPC: need assistance helping out a friend
Hello all of you,
I have recently discussed with a friend about his snoring problems. As he is already using a CPAP machine, his sleep is registered and I would like to share it with you.
The CPAP does not seem to do much good for his snoring issues and I wonder if he is using the correct machine.
It would be nice to have your honorable ideas help us along the way, so I am enclosing his latest sleep recording:
RE: Snoring under PPC: need assistance helping out a friend
Snoring indicates pressures aren't high enough to prevent it. There's a lot of Hypopnea as well, another indicator the Philips Respironics machine isn't set high enough, which by itself the Respironics machines need to be right on top of the necessary therapy pressures. Fixed 8 isn't high enough given these bits of info.
I would switch to Auto mode, starting at 9 and Max at up to 20 to have the CPAP have available whatever pressures are required to treat. Once the pressures required are reported, then possibly the wide range of pressures can be narrowed.
Another aspect, the Philips Respironics machine might not react fast enough to treat successfully. Swapping to a ResMed AutoSet or VAuto bilevel might be required too.

Hello Dave,
You do confirm my suspicions , thank you so much.
Your way of finding the correct personal pressures seems very appropriate.
We will see where it brings us!
Best regards,
Hugo
PS other ideas are surely appreciated.

I agree with S Dave. You will be able to find a therapeutic pressure level by going to APAP mode Min 9 and Max 20 to see where the machine goes and OSCAR providing data for the next pressure adjustments. The Median pressure of APAP shown in OSCAR statistics can be a good minimum setting once it is found.
Best of Luck
