ASV can take some time to get used to and get the settings right. It was pretty tough for me to get used to the bursts of pressure it would give you.
My best advice would be to try not to anticipate the pressure burst and to just let your breathing work with the machine. You could try wearing the machine and just watching some TV to get used to it.
