Struggling to exhale
#11
RE: Struggling to exhale
Thank you all for your advice! I should have an SD card, so I'll have data for you in 2 days. I ended up sleeping most of the night without the CPAP, but when I woke up in the early morning, I put it on with the ramp turned off (so I wasn't stuck at 4) and fell asleep for a few hours! I think that the high pressure for the nap was 7.9, so still pretty low. I still feel like I can't breathe (in and out, not just out as I thought at first), even with the minimum pressure at 10 (I did some testing while awake), so it may be a mask issue. I'm going to give it a few more days, putting the mask on only when I'm falling asleep, to minimize the feeling like I can't breathe while I'm awake. I am not at all bothered by having something on my face, since it's so minimal, so maybe practicing while I'm awake was a bad idea for me personally. If I am still bothered tomorrow, I'll ask the DME to let me try larger pillows at a higher pressure.

RE: Struggling to exhale
The DME can issue a larger size nasal pillows at any time. In fact, the starter kit for the Resmed Airfit P10 and many other masks includes three sizes. They probably removed yours.

Any pressure changes by a DME requires approval by the prescribing doctor for them to input to your machine. Most of us shortcut this process and do it ourselves. Get the clinical manual for your machine here https://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-p...tup-manual It will be useful information whether you change settings or not. If you want to change settings it's easy. https://www.apneaboard.com/resmed-airsen...setup-info

RE: Struggling to exhale
Hi, naps.  Its been a while since you've posted, but I had this exact same problem with the same machine and same mask.  At the end of the day, I ended up having to change masks, the P30i simply didn't work for me.  You can see my thread about this here:

Don't give up on this.  Once I figured out the right mask, it was like a switch was flipped and now my therapy is going great.
