Success! 20 year cpap/bipap no longer require treatment. Question

Success! 20 year cpap/bipap no longer require treatment. Question
I received the results from my latest SS and am totally shocked by them. According to the Dr I no longer require therapy. Even though I've lost 25 lbs (13%) with a GLP1 and knew they could help with apnea I was quite surprised. Especially because the night of the SS I had two bad choking episodes. She assured me that my AHI number was only 1.6 that night and I wasn't used to experiencing one to that degree because of my long term therapy. She told me to stop using the machine but pay attention to how I react to discontinuing therapy. I have always slept with the machine even when napping. I'm extremely psyched about it but also a bit concerned because of the choking issues the night of the SS. My plan is to go cold turkey for a few nights and see how I do. I realize I may have to wean myself down slower if necessary.
I'm hoping that others may have gone through this or some of the experts here can give me some tips.
Thanks Barn

Congratulations on the weight loss. You may want to download Oscar and get an SD card. Hopefully the choking episode is not related to apnea.
If you do use the cpap machine, look over your charts.

The threshold for "needing" CPAP therapy based on a sleep study is not particularly high,, and weight loss is not usually effective in eliminating the need.. Listen to your body as you go without pressure and decide if you're sleeping better or not. I think your doctor said the same. Congrats on the weight loss.

Thanks for your reply J. I may do just that depending on how I do without it.

Thanks Sleeprider. I fully agree with your opinion and as I mentioned it caught me off guard with the results. The last twenty years I've seen weight losses a few times fairly close to the current loss. I'm thinking the GLP1 may be the difference maker. My Cardiologist told me that she's seeing apnea patients no longer needing therapy and studies are attributing it to a combo of the weight loss and a direct effect related to the medication itself. Don't know the science but will take it.
