Central Sleep Apnea: Dont know how to describe my symptom
I have been using ASV aircurve 11,Welluve O2 ring.Everynight I wake up during early hours feeling of heart racing, feeling of lungs or diaphram frozen/burning kind of sensation, but not gasping for air.It feeling like the sensation you experience when you encounter sudden scary shock/surprise.When i immediately check my spo2 reading during that timeframe, my o2 stays 96% around, heart rate around 85bpm.My morning AHI report shows <1. What could be the possible cause. Most painful thing is i dont know how to exactly describe my symptom.I am not getting refreshed sleep as well.

I'm not familiar with ASV settings, but if you would post a OSCAR chart, someone may spot something that would cause your early morning wake ups.
Use the links in my Signature Line for Organizing a chart and attaching it here.

Any possibility your burning sensation is associated with acid reflux?
I'm thinking your ASV therapy can be made better with a few changes. I would edit to ASV Auto mode, EPAP 6-10, PS 3-12. You'll want to turn any Ramp off if it's currently active, if possible. If you had edited settings to avoid aerophagia or acid reflux, then we can revisit.

Thanks so much @SarcasticDave94.
I dont have any AcidReflux, i guess its safe to rule out.My symptoms i described occuring during deep sleep. I started with ASV auto, with various changes to settings, it never helped , i have more waking cycles[spo2 80 avg dips <90% during nights] with same symptoms.Only after chaning to ASV my spo2 95% of tome stays over 90%. Thanks

Here's the ResMed ASV Titration image. You may want to try this out.

RE: Central Sleep Apnea: Dont know how to describe my symptom
Hi, pguser
I have had the sensation you describe of lungs burning. The first time I was using a "bomb" type of bug spray and didn't quite hold my breath long enough before getting out of the room. (I highly do NOT recommend this.) I think I've also had this sensation from inadvertantly inhaling water, that is from "swallowing the wrong way." You might try checking for condensation (rain out) in your tube or mask that you might have inhaled. Also, I wonder if this is what asthma feels like and if there is any chance that you could be starting to get that? |
