[Treatment] Apneas increases slowly
#1
Apneas increases slowly
Hi there

I have posted some time ago that I see an increase in my Apneas since I started in August this year. When I started my treatment it was hovering on 1.5 to 1.7. September I.saw an increase in the 2.5 to 3 range. In October 3.0 to 4. Yesterday 4.1 and this morning 5.0. It's concerning as I am really enjoying my new burst of energy and don't want my apneas to increase to a point where I am lethargic again. I have put on some weight so is this maybe the problem? Mask seals are normal every day.

Assuming the events are not Clear Airway than weight is the most likely cause for the increase in events. I would try increasing the minimum pressure .4 - .6 and see if that helps improve your AHI over the next few days. You may require an additional small increase in minimum pressure if that doesn't reduce it enough.

Thank you for the response. . How do I change the pressure on my Resmed Airsense as this  was preset when I received it. My average pressure now is 17.4. Cpap set from 4-20.

Sorry I thought your machine was already setup for you. But it's in the default settings. I recommend downloading sleepyhead software from the link below and posting a chart here. You'll need a SD card to put in your machine to record detailed data and than upload to your computer. Also you can get a clinic manual in the members private file section which explains how to use your settings.

RE: Apneas increases slowly
I too noticed a creeping increase in AHI. But at the same time, I noticed creeping better sleep. The the AHI went lower but the sleep remained better. Two steps forward, one step backward. Now my AHI is <1 and I enjoy going to bed at night.
CPAP is a journey like “The Wizard of Oz”. It’s a long slow journey. You will face many problems and pick up many friends along the way. Just because you reach the poppies, it doesn’t mean you are in Kansas.
