[Treatment] Configuration Tips

Configuration Tips
I'm new to this subject. I've been using CPAP for a little over a month. The first 30 days I used a rented device and now, in this first week, I've used my Resmed S9 device, which I got from a friend. I'd like some tips on how to set it up, because I noticed that my apnea, which was 1.7 on the S10, went up to 3.5 on the S9. I don't know if it's because the S10 software is more sensitive and modern. It's already a gain, since my apnea was 23/H. Thanks for the tips.

RE: Configuration Tips
Welcome to the forum,

Are you on any medications that affect your breathing or sleep?
Do you have any health issues that  affect your breathing or sleep?
Can you post a copy of your sleep report with your personal info redacted.

Please use English for your screenshots.
We need to see the device setting.

You have some positional apnea at the end of your sleep.  It is not bad but any PA you can avoid the better.  You can see positional apnea where either H or OA events are clustered together.  Getting rid of as many as you can will lower your AHI.  Positional apnea can NOT be controlled by pressure changes.  You have to find out what position you are getting into and cutting off your own airway.  Have you changed your sleep position?  Sleeping on your back?  Using more (or new) pillows?  These things can cause positional apnea by chin dropping to your sternum and cutting your airway.  Think of it of a kinked hose – nothing can get through – you have to unkink the hose…
IF you can’t make a simple change like changing to a flatter pillow helps then you will need a collar.

Your Flow Limitations are too high and causing your pressure to increase throughout the night. Are you using EPR? Set EPR to 2 or 3, you might see an increase of CAs though, keep an eye on that.

Flow Limitation Is Associated with Excessive Daytime Sleepiness in Individuals without Moderate or Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea

RE: Configuration Tips
I believe that when I sleep on my side my apneas decrease. However, in the morning I am on my back, which complicates the situation even more. I will try to avoid this position.

My RPE was already set to 3.

Thanks for the answer.

RE: Configuration Tips
Does VRD on your chart indicate Central Apneas?  And what does AI indicate?  We need this information to interpret your chart.  I don't think you have any CAs, so turn your EPR on full time, set to 3.

Your starting pressure should be raised to 7, as your median pressure is higher than that.  Once your flow limits are lowered, we can decide what your high-pressure setting should be.

As high as your flow limits are, it may be that you will need to switch to a bilevel machine such as the ResMed AirCurve 10, but we can reassess that later.

Best wishes for achieving great therapy and comfort! Smile
