Trouble getting used to bipap
Hello, I was prescribed bipap after my sleep titration study, due to CPAP intolerance. The initial pressure was 11 IPAP, 7 EPAP, which I also could not tolerate during exhalation. I am now trying 11 IPAP, 5 EPAP which is better. But once I wake up during the night (which I always do and did before the bipap as well - this is nothing new), I can't tolerate the machine anymore: I get very claustrophobic. This is probably just my psychological quirk or problem, as I can't see much wrong in the data - or am I wrong?
Any advice on any aspect - improving my performance, reducing the 'clear airway' events, or somehow getting over the intolerance - would be very much appreciated!
I attach 3 nights data. The rest of the night beyond the times shown I could not use the bipap, as stated.

I don't understand the setting you are using.
I would try one night with the following settings and see if this helps.
Pap Mode VPAPauto
PS4 over 5-19 cmH2O
RE: Trouble getting used to bipap
Thank you for the reply. I am using S mode, inspiratory 11, expiratory 5. Some other settings I am using: Easy breathe = on, Ti Max = 3.8s, Ti min = 0.3s, Trigger = very high, Cycle = med, Ramp time = off, Tube temp = 81 F, Humidity = 5.
RE: Trouble getting used to bipap
Try using the machine during the day, while reading or watching TV. This will help you getting used to it. You need 7 to 8 hours of treatment to reap the benefits that your body needs.
Good luck

Thanks for the suggestion - I will try using it during other activities when I am sitting down.
