Tube type -- require new therapy settings?
Hello all and thanks for this very helpful forum, where I've been a lurker for a while--and have benefited from lots of great info.
In the middle of last night, my Airsense 10--barely a year old--began making the dreaded wheezing noise during inhalation. It's not a mask or other air leak; it's the motor. I have already reached out to the appropriate channels on that. Fortunately, I have a backup unit in the meantime.
BUT ... while checking the Airsense thoroughly I realized that, buried deep in the settings, the hose is set to "Slimline"--whereas I've been using the standard generic-type hose all along. (Somehow I thought the generic hose was "slimline"--versus the big heated hose I do not use.) Now, having seen a slimline, I realize my mistake.
This has zero relation to the new noise coming from the machine ... but it DOES potentially affect my therapy settings going forward. After much testing, Oscar-studying, and settings-tweaking, I have them DIALED-IN! Low flow limits and typical AHIs below 0.5. I am dreaming again, too.
MY QUESTION: Going forward, should I continue with this hose/setting mismatch--given that it's now working to perfection? Any reason I shouldn't? If I continue using the standard hose and update the Airsense to standard also, will my now-perfect settings deliver an imperfect therapy?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
