Variable Breathing/CSR?
#21
RE: Variable Breathing/CSR?
Things got worse, but I'm going in today and will follow-up.

Here are the last 2 days. One caveat, and I hate to admit it, but those last two have no beers at night, so 2 nights completely sober and I wonder if that is an issue? If you look at my other charts, things get bad after 3AM or so, now it starts right away. I'll add flex back in, and see what my options are for leaks. They love whatever is cheap at the VA and want me to use a strap, I have my doubts it will work because it makes me feel like I can't breathe at all.

They may suggest a bi-level device with trigger adjustment capability.

Interesting, why a BiPAP?

Because your high CAs can be mitigated with the trigger function, while the Hs and flow limits can be addressed with an increase pressure support (flex) your current instrument is not capable.

I got the new mask, a hybrid, and she adjusted my flex to 1 from 0. I don't have an appt with the doctor until Dec and she can't really change equipment. Hopefully the new mask will cut down on the leaks and make things better.

Just to followup. The new mask and flex level 1 seem to really help. I'm cautiously optimistic. If you see anything else to possibly change, let me know.

Thanks to everyone who replied! I'll give it a few days before I pass judgement.

Eventually, when things settle, you might want to increase your flex. It has serious benefits for those who can tolerate it.

Well, the hybrid mask was a bust. Between the leaks and water (saliva) waking me up all night, the numbers just got bad.

So, back to the n30i on Sat (2 nights ago) and a few beers at night. I changed min pressure to 11 and max down to 15, and turned off Flex again.

Here is Sat Night

Sunday was similar

Here is last night, and again, no alcohol last night, and the crap sleeps starts right away. The only cpap change (last night) was turning off ramp (not sure how it got turned on again, but it was at 4 so I just left the mask sitting there until it came up to pressure. I know how to fix that if it happens again, yep, resperonics is cr**)

I do know that since I Only sleep on my sides, it could be positional, and I feel constricted but down deep in my throat, not in the jaw/neck area.

Also, I'm a little scared to try taping, since I mentioned it to my tech and she said the VA strongly discourages it in case of vomiting in your sleep.

I'm at a complete loss.

As always, thanks!

This is really Bad . You should request a ResMed AirCurve 10 VAUTO device. I hope someone with experience with your device can comment on your settings, too.

Here is my two cents:
Incense your minimum pressure to 12 cm and turn the ramp off.

As for the taping, vomiting can indeed be a concern. But I have not read about it on this forum yet nor reported it on the internet as a real issue. To mitigate it, you should not eat 4-5 hours before bedtime and drink no water for two hours. Also, you should fold back the end of the tape so you can easily grab it and remove it with a single stroke if needed. Taping can do wonders for your OAs.
