Was Alice machine working?
I have an appointment next week to go over the Alice NightOne sleep results. They said plan on an hour. This tells me they will likely be issuing a machine or some other device.
When I did the study, I put the Alice machine on, hooked everything up, and it all registered fine. All lights went to green, then went out.
Several times during the night, though, the yellow light would blink for the chest strap and wake me up since it was aimed right towards my eyes. I would take a deep breath or two, it would go out again, and I’d fall back asleep. I don’t remember it turning green before going out, just stopped blinking.
Here’s my question: how does the machine know you have quit breathing vs the chest strap is not adjusted right? I don’t want to be placed on CPAP the rest of my life if it was a sensing error.
RE: Was Alice machine working?
I don't know exactly what happened. My guess is that when the lights changed, it probably meant that you were having apnea of some sort, not that it was not working. When you go in to talk to whoever you are seeing, ask them about it.
If you do need a machine, make sure they specifically prescribe a ResMed machine (writing that no substitutions are allowed), not one of the other brands, as ResMed is the best. Most of us on this forum much prefer the ResMeds. If you need one, you will likely need a ResMed AirSense or a ResMed AirCurve machine. They both come in versions 10 and 11. I like the 10s better, as they have an excellent track record. The 11s have a lot more complaints, even though they have been out for a much shorter time.
Again, welcome, and best wishes for achieving great therapy and comfort!

Thank you for the info. I’ll be sure to remember that brand.
I know I have sleep apnea. I’ve had it since I was a kid, before it was a “thing.” My sister always complained about me not breathing, then making a loud rip-snore noise. Wasn’t anything they chased medically back then, just blamed it on my tonsils.
But I’ve lived with it for 50 years. If I need a CPAP, then so be it, but I want the report to be correct in case it’s just a mild or borderline reading. Maybe I can get away with a mouth piece instead.

Suggestion, request a copy of the detailed sleep study for yourself. You need it for your personal file. Second you can post it redacted of your personal info here for members helping decipher the results.
If you had loud snoring years ago, it's not 100% certain but that's a reasonable indicator of Apnea. And time delays in treatment might make it more likely needing CPAP. Despite the difficulty some have getting used to the machine, it's the most successful treatment there is.
Mask Primer
Positional Apnea
Attach OSCAR, etc.

I will definitely do that, thank you for responding.
