What can effect sleep apnea positive or negative
Wondering what can effect sleep apnea.
Such as being over/under weight, pillow, time you go to bed, length time you sleep for.
Does the mask you use effect sleep apnea or just effect the reporting of the apnea by the machine used.
Same as the the machine you use.
Does medication have any effect
Anything else, views, experience, opinions most welcome

RE: What can effect sleep apnea positive or negative
All those can affect the therapy, some of which also affect comfort. From mask to hose to machine, the mask is touching your face so it affects things a lot.
If your mask doesn't fit well or is shaped wrong, you'll do worse.
Heated hose versus not heated can affect things.
The machine itself, the modes it uses, the settings used, all affect this.
Then another variable, any other illness that affects your sleep can hinder.
Mask Primer
Positional Apnea
Attach OSCAR, etc.

RE: What can effect sleep apnea positive or negative
A great many things effect sleep outside of sleep apnea and sleep apnea just piles on. Even down to ones evening meals and their overall attitude about sleep. Sleep position is often a force multiplier for Apnea. Most of the time apnea will be worse and harder to control if one sleeps on their back. Yes there are exceptions.
I have heard from multiple Dr's that it even comes down to your bedroom and how you use it. I.E. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT watch TV or use the smart phone in bed. Even reading a book can be bad. Why? because our mind will start to associate the bed with those activities instead of sleep.
Get your apnea things ready to go long before bed.
