White Powder In Filter

I had the same problem.  Using a room humidifier and initially used filtered water.  Did not see any white powder anywhere in the room except on my Resmed filter.  I kept my machine on a stand low on the floor and far from the humidifier.  When I saw the filter covered with white powder I was concerned it was also in the interior of the machine.  I took the machine apart and the entire motor was full of the white powder.  I tried blowing out the powder but was never able to completely clean it. Luckily I was due for a new cpap machine, When I use the room humidifier now I only use distilled water and change the filter every two weeks.  This seems to do the trick.
