White noise / mask noise causing poor sleep? P30i

White noise / mask noise causing poor sleep? P30i
I recently tried the ResMed P30i mask for two nights (the one with the "Teletubbies" attachment at the top of the head, and air travels through the mask frame past the ears). It's louder than my usual mask (Evora full face) but I was able to sleep fine.

I felt absolutely awful for those two days, unexpectedly so.

Earlier this year I slept with a loud fan for two nights also and had a similar experience - slept through the nights fine but felt awful during the days. So I'm wondering if the P30i is sufficiently loud enough to disturb my sleep, even though as far as I'm aware I sleep through the whole night.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I googled it but could only find info about how helpful white noise is for sleeping.

Last night I switched back to my usual setup and feel much better this morning.

Thanks for reading!

I recently read where a member with a similar mask put a sock or some material around the tube part (that goes by the ears)  that goes from the top of the silicone tube down to the bottom where it attaches to the nose piece.  The material acted kind of like noise reduction (sound dampening).

Foam could be used as well, wrapped around the silicone tube part that goes by the ears.

Have you tried ear plugs as well?

Thank you that's a good idea I'll give it a try.

I always use earplugs!

Any idea if white noise intolerance like I'm describing is something that my body could get accustomed to? I liked the mask apart from how I felt in the morning...

There should be a volume control with most white noise machines.  Start lower volume to adapt, then try to raise volume if necessary.

i--personally--have an adverse reaction to most white noise, especially while trying to sleep. the machines that generate white noise bug the crap out of me.

i also have been using that same mask for a couple weeks; but it doesn't bother me all that much. yes, i hear it when the machine starts up, but not enough to bother me.

from my first CPAP machine (an ancient remstar) up until this one (aircurve 10), i have learned to just let the noise happen and not let it bother me. these machines and masks are much quieter than the ones i had when first using pap equipment.

but i can pretty much fall asleep whenever i want, unless totally stressed. my wife is envious of how quickly i zonk out.

Yeah I think my issue is that I'm a very light sleeper.

I am able to fall asleep with the noise no problem, and I'm not aware of it disturbing my sleep, but I wake up feeling terrible
