[CPAP] CHANGE SETTINGS ON DREAMSTATION WITH "NEW SIMPLIFIED MENUS"
#1
Question
CHANGE SETTINGS ON DREAMSTATION WITH "NEW SIMPLIFIED MENUS"
I wasn’t given a choice, (VA Health,) and was provided with a new Philips Dreamstation model number DSX500H11C. In addition to that it is has a big decal on the front that says, “NEW SIMPLIFIED MENUS!” I suspect this just means that the manufacturer has made it harder for me to make changes to my settings. When I remove the SD card it does warn me me not to do that, of course I tend not to follow strange warnings.

It has only 3 item titles on the menu, 1. My Info, 2, My Provider, and 3. My Setup.

Title 1. My Info tells me my therapy hours as Sleep progress and that is all. It never fails to congratulate me on my progress.
Title 2. My Provider allows me to see the model information on my device, to Upload My Information to my provider (this won’t work from here and is apparently something they do at the med center,) and lastly to check the Device Performance that results in 5 sets of numbers that make no sense to me and again probably are designed for the med center use.
Title 3. My Setup allows me to adjust 6 items: A. Ramp (and only from 10 to 4,) B. Ramp Time (from 0 to .45,) C. Tube Type, D. Modem (on or off,) E. Bluetooth (on or off,) and F. The Time of day.

I’m using Sleepyhead software and trying to learn all about Apnea and CPAP. After 2 weeks it looks to me like from what I have read that I might help myself by making some changes to the CPAP but I’m frustrated in how to do that because all the settings mentioned elsewhere don’t seem to be on this machine. I’m sure that means the VA wants me to come in for changes but that is very time consuming and costly process for me.

The machine came with two User Manuals. One is for the heated humidifier and barely mentions the information on the screen. It is mostly about care and cleaning. The other manual is for Dreamstation and 4 other models so everything says “may” have this or that and discusses many different settings and how to change them. Of course almost none of that works on this model because those items don't show on the menu.

It may be here somewhere on the forum but I haven’t found it. Can anyone give me any advice on how to work with this machine or direct me to a current forum discussion or other information on this subject?

Hold the big knob and ramp button in for 5 seconds and it'll bring up the clinic manual so you can adjust pressures and other settings.

Thanks! I really had already tried that a couple of times but apparently not correctly as it did bring up a much larger menu. Looks like I wasted a lot of time, now I have to get figuring out what to adjust to where. Please excuse my ignorance.

You can pick up a clinic manual in the private files section. That should help somewhat.

If you turn "Advanced Menus" on, you'll be able to access the usual things in patient mode.

Here is my recent post regarding what I discovered with the most recent firmware (which is what you're talking about).
