aerophagia
Hi everyone,

I have been on cpap/bipap for 12 years. Recently, my therapy has been horrible and I've been working with AXG to fix it. Turns out the PS is too high and the EPAP/IPAP much too low.

We've titrated from 9/5 to 13/8 and will keep going. I started getting aerophagia at 13/8, and am hoping this can be resolved by arriving at a higher pressure that doesn't cause constant gasping.

Has anyone else been able to relieve aerophagia by continuing UP in pressure?

RE: aerophagia
Post some charts, and we should be able to help you.  I, too, increased my pressure support way too high (6.6), and even though I lowered it a lot, I still get it a lot of bad nights.  Night before last, after fighting this for several weeks, my AHI was 46.6!  Then last night I had no aerophagia and my AHI was 0.4.  None of the other nights were as bad as my terrible night.  My normal AHI is usually zero.something, so you can imagine how shocking that night was!  Drop your PS down a good bit, but I warn you, it may take time to recover, so don't expect quick results.  Mine have been painfully slow.  The aerophagia has been bad enough to wake me and force me to walk around, then try other positions repeatedly during the night.  It's stealing a lot of sleep, besides making me feel awful.  I pray yours is not as bad and goes away more quickly than mine.

I did not raise my pressure settings, but maybe I'll raise them a little and see if that helps.  I think the PS setting is more important.
