chin strap idea
I used this last night and it worked a treat as a chin restraint. It's called a BUFF. I bought one years ago (2007) as a motorcycle helmet liner. I would wet it then put it on and the helmet vents letting in air would provide a good deal of cooling.

It can be used as a light winter hat or a neck scarf. They are highly breathable, light weight and long lived and NO VELCRO.

Amazon has lots of Buffs too, as well as off brand ones.  Some are cheaper than others and there are loads of choices.

Do you tie them at the top of your head, or do you secure them some other way?  I'm sure they are probably a lot more comfortable than other chin strap ideas.

I just fold it in on itself until it’s about 3” wide and just put it on. Once it’s on my chin i spread out the buff on the top of my head. Then a little from the chin up over my lips.

It remained in place very well. Didn’t need to adjust it during the night.

If you go to this link and look at the photo with the wearing styles one can make. Look at the headband/sweatband. just reversed on your head.
