chin strap inquiry

chin strap inquiry
Does anyone use a chin strap effectively?   I am a mouth breather with severe nasal congestion and yet I have persisted my way through 2.5 years of CPA therapy with a therapeutic ahi of less than 2. I am already using a mouth guard for TMJ upper and lower and minimal strap with resmed air fit F40.  I often times experience throat irritation early in the night due to mouth breathing, I presume.  Any suggestions on trying a chin strap, which one is good, and do I even need one?

The only chin strap design that does not pull the chin back, is from Supplier #37.  Instead of being a band, it is more of a cap design that allows an upward tension on the jaw as opposed to being pulled back.

RE: chin strap inquiry
One alternative that I use along with or to take a break from the head gear. Is to use the Eliminator sleep cushion. It has rather firm foam and thus you can rest your chin on it.

I have used the Knightsbridge with success. But I can sleep a bit warm and thus at times get too warm with the cap & two straps on. And my chin whiskers get a bit itchy.

This is my chart from last night using a P10 mask, Eliminator collar, And "Buff" neck gaiter rolled into a head band placed across my mouth (in place of mouth taping. As you can see, My median leak was 1.2 and max of 7. And I didn't get hot.

Look at the  SomNoSeal device a soft, flexible mouthpiece that prevents mouth breathing and dry mouth during sleep.

Thanks Crimson Nape and super7pilot.

Please use the link of Supplier #37 if you are interested in the Knightsbridge Dual Band chin strap rather than a keyword search or you will likely end up with a counterfeit.
