geedoublex - Therapy Assistance
Hello there.
I have a Lowenstein Smart Prisma Max and a Phillips Dreamwear nasal mask. I have been using for 5 month with "Mixed" results but recently I am woken up at 2 - 3 AM with increased pressure. The increased pressure makes the machine noticeably whine more (which has always been the case, even low down at the side of my bed) Both of these wake me up and I take off the mask. I attach some screenshots from Oscar but as I am new hear not sure if you can see anything from them or if i need to include other graphs or adjust the view. If there is anything obvious please let me know.
Many Thanks.

RE: Increased Pressure and Whining noise waking me up
Welcome

One thing that you could do stop the machine from ramping up pressure is use a static cpap pressure (use the highest pressure that you machine gets during sleep - as a single digit).

You are using apap mode with allows the machine to go up and down in pressure if necessary.  The switch to a static pressure would not stop the "whining" noise though, since it would begin at a higher pressure when you turn it on.

Maybe some other members have some ideas as to how to "quiet" your machine down a little bit.

Cheyne-Stokes respiration events ?
Hello.

I have had 2 CSR events this week.  Never seen this in 6 months since using CPAP.

I am unmonitored at the moment. Is this a concern ? I have searched here for CSR but not many firm answers.

Google mentions heart attack !

Thanks.

Sorry I didn't see this reply @jay51. Thank you, I will experiment with that fixed pressure.

RE: Cheyne-Stokes respiration events ?
IMO, neither of the 2 charts look like real CSR.

1st chart doesn't have a flat line CA in it.

2nd chart has all H's.  They all need to be CA's.

Anything in your medical history that could point to CSR?

Here is some reading on CSR from our wiki:  (Pay particular attention to the section entitled, "Associated Conditions".

RE: geedoublex - Therapy Assistance
If your CPAP reports them, then it would be listed as "CA". Some ASV machines, like Resmed, do not report them as CAs but as UAs.

RE: geedoublex - Therapy Assistance
Hello all. I now have Resmed airsense 11 from NHS.
Liking it so far apart from 1 thing. When I stop therapy at 5am to get up. there is a slight annoying high pitch sound, like tinnitus ! This goes on for about 20 mins then it does 3 puffs and completely shuts down.
I read this is cooling down phase. Any idea how to stop the tinnitus high pitch sound and puffing or reduce it.... It wakes my wife up.

Thanks
