RE: nasal dilator
I don't think insurance will pay for this. They call alot of things cosmetic or not medically necessary. Thank you for asking because it may help with my deviated septum. I'm a long-time full facer and would love to be able to get into a nose or nasal rig. I had no idea they make this product. Things like breathe-rite never worked.

RE: nasal dilator
I have tried a lot of different kinds of nasal dilators.

Categories include:  hard (metal) vs. soft silicone.

"spring" shaped to "pry" the nose open (most are metal).

cone-shaped (silicone) to pray the nose open.

I have used breathe right strips (or equivalent and/or the above mentioned nasal dilators) under my full face mask.

After trying about 10 different kinds, I rotate out breathe right strips and a cone-shaped soft silicone nasal dilator (the cone is a "skeleton consistency" and not completely solid.

I hope this helps.  Read the reviews and specs of the different nasal dilators to get more information as well.  YMMV as well.

RE: nasal dilator
I have not had a doctor recommend a nasal dilator but I have tried 3 that failed.  The strips that supposedly spread open the nose were useless for me and the type that is inserted into the nose is not compatible with my mask cushion.  It would be great to get my nostrils dilated but I have given up.  If I pull them apart with fingers breathing becomes sooo much easier.  I eny those with large wide nostrils.

RE: nasal dilator
the stock ones might be better, healthier and safer,
but i liked this one from thingiverse pretty much.
unfortunately its not parametric, but it could be stretched to fit individual nose sizes.

haven't tried cone shapes yet, they look sharp edged but maybe ok if silicone.
are they wide enough at the tip ? haven't seen spring shaped ones yet.

there are also some with magnets for putting a little pressure on the nasal septum (wall between nostrils).
it is said the body would somehow react with some congestion relief.

has anyone tried that and how would it work ?

RE: nasal dilator
I tried some for a while and ultimately found it was easier to just switch to nasal pillows.
Breathe through your nose
Reduce sugar and processed food
Soft collar and seal your mouth

RE: nasal dilator
Part of the issue is how you define congestion. Is it from small nostrils or a small nasal valve further in the nose? Or from swollen turbinates. Or even just full of mucus.

I have tried the silicone cone type  long before going on cpap and they worked pretty well. But they were a bit uncomfortable with my f40 mask. And In the end my congestion was a bit deeper.

I recently had an internal nasal procedure to open up my nasal valves and some offending turbinates.  It’s called VivAyr. It worked great and the procedure only took an hour from walking in and walking out of the clinic.

RE: nasal dilator
the main problem seems to be that my nostrils contract in front of the nasal valve,
then the swollen turbinates (behind the valve ?). with the nasal valve itself i could maybe still do
and not to forget that dry air sure plays a role.

if i were able to somehow sleep outside in the right climate,
my nose could well open up.

if i spread the area just before the nasal valve,
the pressurized air from the machine mostly copes wit the swollen turbinates.
my nose is very susceptible to pressure from hard edges
so the stuff needs to be well rounded or soft
for me to bare having the spreader in there.

i guess i wouldn't microwave it from the inside, no,
but i'm still thankful for the info and curious about the procedure.

are there measurements how wide the nose should be ?
where would one feel that heat if the nose is numb ?
how much would they heart up everything ?
what is this numbing jelly and where they put it ?
where do the injections go ?
can you tell if it is lasting so far ?

RE: nasal dilator
Cexer, no measurements. The doctor just looks up the nose and decides where to remove material.

I didn’t feel anything as my nose was numb from several shots. And yes, the shots were given inside my nose. Some of the material removed was to the outside of the nasal valve as well as further inside.
Yes i do feel MUCH MORE air flow now.
