sgtoutlaw - Therapy thread

I got a overnight sleep study at the lab, and the results are in the picture.

So I have only been trying for about 3 or so days at this point, and have some concerns.

So my mask is leaking, I am told that I should try and adjust it and get it good during the day before I actually have to use it, and I have others who say that wearing it during the day can help you get used to it.  I tried doing that, but even when the mask isn't leaking anywhere around it, the pressure keeps climbing till I am at like 16 pressure and feel like it is trying to inflate me.

I am guessing maybe I change it off of auto for doing this?  And it seems I can somewhat get the mask sealed when the pressures are lower, but when I am hitting 14+ it seems like the only method must be just making the mask tighter, even though people say it shouldn't be that tight when sealed properly.

I will give you a oscar, but I don't think it will be nearly as useful until I can get the mask leak issue figured out.

Welcome to the forum.
You sort of did well under 12cm of pressure and the leaks were not terrible, not positive though as the leaks were so bad.
Try a max pressure of 12 cm and EPR of 3 full time.
Epr is used to lower flow limits and your flow limits were high.
Try not to over tighten the mask,i t is counterintuitive and that makes the leaks worse. The mask will inflate as you turn it on.
You may want to turn ramp on for 5 minutes at 7cm of pressure.
I am not going to speak about your sleep study, more experience people will address that.

When do you have a follow up? with Central apnea's being the most predominant event on your sleep study. You might be well served by asking them about this.

Your mask seal is not good at all and is much more than the AS11 can compensate for. First order of business is to ask about those centrals.

So I don't really have any follow up that I know of from the people who did the sleep study. So maybe it is just something I get back with them with, if there are more steps then a cpap that I should take due to all the central apneas.

The only other thing was maybe doing a titration study, which I am not sure whether it is worth the money to do or not.

I do have a follow up with my primary doctor in mid april as well.

RE: sgtoutlaw - Therapy thread
I did some changes to 8-15, gave myself a 5 minute ramp like jdouge suggest, and changed to the mask to a nasal one... and it was great.  I am just realizing now that I left the cpap on full mask setting.  Not sure what it does, but the nasal mask I have, airfit N20, worked great for me with little to no leaks now even at higher pressures.

I realize that I am fine with nasal, as I just blow out anything blocking my nose and immediately put the mask on so the blowing air keeps it from closing up. (At least worked so far.)  And my mouth stays perfectly closed over the night, and haven't had a single problem of it yet in the 5 or so days I have been using it.

Thinking of maybe upping the min pressure to be 9 or maybe even 10.

Also change to nasal mask setting, tho I am not sure what it does, as it seems like it was working fine under full face mask mode.
