smartstart vs leak alert

smartstart vs leak alert
I was having  many long, large leaks, and wondered  whether my CPAP machine (ResMed  AirCurve 10 VAUTO)  might have a leak  alarm, since once I get to sleep, the leaks may not awaken me.   I found "leak alert" so I turned that on.    However, that night I did not have  "smart start", and the alert was not loud enough to awaken me.   After several nights of being annoyed by lack of "smartstart",   I called my DME.    I was told that leak alert  turns  off  smartstart.   Leak alert is not a loud alarm.  It is expected to be used for someone  who has a caregiver to reposition the mask when needed.   Oh.   That  was helpful to know.   So now I again have smartstart.
