Hi guys,
Hope you are all well.
I'm having an issue where I'm waking up ridiculously early with air rushing onto my face. No matter how I adjust the mask once I've been woken, I can feel the pressure, in a way that I don't earlier in the night, and so I eventually give up and take the mask off.
I'm wondering if I should turn the pressure down or if anyone has other solutions.
I've attached last night's charts, in case they help.
Any responses appreciated.
Best,
Jeff
I couldn't suggest turning pressure down, it's about as low as possible while getting therapy still.
It's just a guess, but OSCAR shows a few mask leaks, several little ones within the last hour. Maybe the air leaks are making you sense air movement because there shouldn't be much air movement noticable unless something like leaks cause it. Reasoning is this is my term, semi-closed system. You have intentional vents for releasing air, but other than that, the air moving between the PAP and your lungs is a closed circuit. This circuit will have a set value of volume of air when exhaled and another set value for inhalation. Beyond that, unless leaks increase, there shouldn't be much air movement sensation.
Example: lie back and turn on your PAP without mask strapped up. Hold it near your face but don't seal it, air movement will be noted. Seal the mask to your face, air movement sensation gone.

Ok thanks. Other than that, the therarpy seems to be working well. The problem is I'm waking up so early because of the air -- and so I'm always tired.

RE: waking up with air blowing on my face
Maybe this is totally ridiculous, but do you have any Positional Apnea? Read the wiki on it, should be a link in my signature. Positional issues are where your head angles your neck into bends that kink your airway shut. Check you pillow stack and make sure it's not too high and try this as well, sitting up, drop your chin down to your chest. Notice any breathing issues? Maybe a soft collar is something to look at. If you completely restricted your throat airway, your mask might be blowing like you describe because the air can't go to your lungs like it should.

Last night was a bit better.
As for the pressure, I turned it down one point because I thought that help reduce the air blowing on me. Was that wrong?
Cheers
Jeff

RE: waking up with air blowing on my face
With OSCAR we could see the difference in therapy of pressure edits. If you dropped both Min/Max of 7-10 down to 6-9, you'll need to drop EPR from 3 to 2. This still might give you some therapy, which is better than nothing. The chart at the top indicates 10 was actually in need of increasing.

Thanks, Dave. I've attached the chart, if that helps. After reading the board, I turned the maximum up one notch, as you will see.
Oops! Forgot to post the chart! Here it is!
