PR System One REMstar Auto reprogramming - BillF - 05-19-2012

Hi, I'm new to the forum and apologize if this has been asked before.

I bought a used PR System One REMstar Auto because I want ed to take it camping with a battery. I tried to reset the pressure to my usual 8 cm/H2O. It seemed to work but the auto-on initiation caused by inhalation was uncomfortable. I felt like I was on a respirator. I tried to adjust it and the programming went nuts on me and shut down - beeping. Now, it turns on - immediately turns off, beeps and says "Contact Service." Local CPAP dealer won't work with me because I don't have an MD Rx and they're afraid of the liability.

All I want the machine to do is blow a steady, flat 8 cm/H2O pressure - no ramp up, no auto-on, no programming - nothing else, like my ancient ResMed Sullivan V.

Can anyone help me.

Thanks!

Hi BillF
The following taken from the user manual
Press either the wheel or ramp button to silence the alert. Remove the power supply cord from the device to remove power. Plug the cord back into the device’s power inlet to restore power. If the alert continues to occur, contact your home care provider.

You can request the clinical manual via email and if you go to Supplier #25 they have a video about the machine setup so you can find the setting and adjust to your normal settings.

Remove the SD card. Disconnect from electricity source and re-boot. You should now be able to put it in CPAP mode at 8 cm. Don't put the SD card back in the machine.

You can check that it's 8 cm of pressure by inserting the hose in a container of water to a depth of 8 cm. Any deeper and the bubbles stop. Any shallower and the bubbles start.

If this doesn't work can you get your money back?

Thanks! That is a great ideal, and seems perfectly logical. I'll try tomorrow. Can't get my money back, but it only cost me $200 and the deal included bag, hoses and humidifier. Funny, as a former registered respiratory therapist (1972), I had forgotten the hose in the water trick. Again, thanks.
