Anyone know or have any ideas how I can get an auto set CPAP after DME has already issued me the non data reporting and non auto set machine.

I'm on medicare.
Options I can think of:
A. take a chance that the DME's home office will authorize the exchange of resmed escape for a resmed S9 auto set.

B. Tell the sleep doctor I want to purchase the CPAP myself and ask the sleep doctor to issue me a prescription and turn in the ResMed escape to the DME.

C. Use the Resmed Escape for the required month for Medicare compliance. Then go back to using my old S8 Autoset for a year. Then sell the ResMed escape and apply purchase to a ResMed S9 Autoset.

Do I really have to keep it for a year before I can sell it? If they want it back before the year is up can't I give them the AutoSet that I've purchased?

Any help in this will be appreciated.
Thanks

If I'm about to croak in my sleep, I want to know about it so I can take steps: Loose weight, quit eating at night, get serious about exercising, or whatever would help.

It makes no sense. Why would anyone want a CPAP that is not capable of collecting sleep data so at least a sleep doctor could review that data?

1) It's more profitable for the DME to sell you a dataless brick.

2) It's more profitable for the medical mafia to make you take an in-lab $leep te$t than to read the data from an in-home data capable CPAP machine. Plus they can generate more office vi$it$.

Checking the CPAP data doesn't generate a lot of revenue, and it takes some small amount of thinking and time.

3) 10-15 years ago, home CPAP machines didn't have efficiency data. The data collected has improved over time. Many of the sleep doctors are stuck in the past in terms of technology, unless the new technology is somehow extra profitable for them.

I'm new to this site but have used a cpap for 6 years followed by an apap for another 6 years. I just puchased a new machine and mask so I thought I try to get the most out of it and came across this site and installed both ResScan and SleepyHead.

No luck with ResScan, I get the message "pure virtual function called" and when clicked it closes down. My daughter, a graduate in computer science, uninstalled and installed it again and got the same message.

SleepyHead however worked great and in the couple days that I've used it I have learned more about my therapy than I have in the last 10 years.

Great Site, thanks for all the work

Thanks,

Not sure which link you're talking about, but the PDF file is still there, at:

Hi macke861

No there is no Mac version of the ResCan SW. You can run it in Boot Camp or Parallels on a Mac or use the SleepyHead SW instead.
