Tips for first night switching to nasal pillow from full face mask? - freddieku - 02-13-2021

I'm 10 days in or so to starting using a CPAP and decided to switch to the P10 nasal pillow. I was progressively getting worse with keeping the mask on including the last two nights where I had no recollection of taking off the mask but woke up with it next to me, taking it off 51 minutes and two hours after putting it on respectively.

Anyway, I'm hoping I can do better with the nasal pillows. I had my pressure set to 7-9 and will probably try EPR off at first. Sleeprider said perhaps the pressure can go down or was it to say it should be boosted w/ nasal pillows from my 7-9? Also, I bought the "eliminator" sleep cushion neck collar thing. Should I try sleeping without it the first night to see if I have leaks during the night from my mouth? I'm almost 100% positive I mouth breath but I suppose may as well see if it works without.

Anything else I need to know?  Thanks in advance!

Most people are better off with a larger size nasal pillow than they think. The seal is on the outside of the nose on the nares, not in the nostrils. You'll love it.

TIL a new word, nares.

Thanks for the tip! I shall try out the larger size tonight!

Also, try a little bit of nasal gel. I use AYR saline nasal gel in a tube. It helps your nostrils from getting sore. Just a little dab on the outer edge of nostrils.
