Differencein AHI during diferent times of the day - E.W. - 11-22-2022

During the day I may go back to bed for a nap lasting anywhere from 15min to 2 hrs . During these naps my AHI ranges from 0 to perhaps as high as .5  .  But nights my long term AHI averages 1.83. I just wonder why I do so much beter during the day and  unfortunitly I don't have a bed partner to blame this on.  It's no big deal I can live with the AHI of 1.83  that I now get with my ResMed  it's not like the darn average AHI of about 9 I was having with my old cursed Dreamstation .

Hi, E.W.  That's an intriguing question.  Perhaps you relax more deeply during the longer night sleep, or there could be differences in position.  If you could post some OSCAR charts, I bet the analysts would be able to see what's happening and make recommendations.  Your need for naps also suggests that further improvements may be possible using this more capable machine.

  • Shorter sleep cycle - less time REM
  • Different wake to sleep time ratio. Where you don't experience events while awake
  • Using Ramp? Ramp time doesn't measure events and therefore higher ramp to therapy ratio would lower AHI.
  • Different quality of sleep while napping.
