Link for setting pressure on Resmed Autoset S9 - Gabby - 07-15-2014

Hi all, I have finally received my new ResMed S9 Autoset.
I cannot tell you how happy I am after using the Escape for five months. So looking forward to getting back to watching what is happening to me through the night.

Big problem, I do not know how to put the pressures in.
My last two machines have been set at straight 6.
With my Auto I would like to maybe try 3-10?

First things first though I need the link to show me how to do this please.
I followed the link up top but it didn't take me far enough.

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Hi Gabby
Pressure cannot be set lower than 4
I would use 5 or 6 as minimum pressure
If you,re using Ramp and EPR, you can use the same setting in the new machine
EPR: regardless of the level you choose, exhale pressure does not go lower than 4

All explained in the clinical manual, available via email from here

Thank you Zonk.
I have never used EPR or Ramp.
Will do the 4-10.
Thank you once again especially for being so fast, so hopefully I can be organised for tonight.

If the machine comes from US, you might want through various setting options, e.g temp C, local time/date, reminders options, etc ..

See page # 20 of the clinical manual (Treatment screen and clinical setup menus)

Once again, thank you Zonk.
Have done all of that.
I am concerned about Climate Control. I have set my humidity level. What do I set my Climate Control at in Options please? Auto, Patient or Manual?
I have turned my EPR off and set my pressure for 4-10.
Also turned ramp off.
Is that ok?

Sorry Zonk, just saw above the Climate Control set for Patient. I am supposing that is what I should put.
I think I am right now. I am quite looking forward to tonight. Woohoooo...

I set everything to "patient"
whatever you set "patient", display in "setup menu" (press setup button) and you can choose either "Auto" or "Manual'

Hi Gabby.

EPR reduces the pressure each time you exhale, making exhaling a bit easier. You can set it between 1 and 3 cm h2o. A lot of the more experienced users turn it off as they don't feel any benefit. In your case, I'd be inclined to set it the same as on your previous machine and only change it once you've got used to the new one.

Ramp starts the pressure at the lowest your machine can generate (in this case 4) and increases it to your lower therapy pressure over a period of time (you can set it between 5 and 45 minutes). The idea is that the pressure builds up gradually letting you drop off to sleep before it's high enough to bother you. Again, the more experienced users seem to turn it off. (I have it set at 10 minutes). Because your lowest therapy pressure is 4 anyway, the ramp won't actually do anything for you.

Hope this helps.

RE: Link for setting pressure on Resmed Autoset S9 - Gabby - 07-16-2014

Thank you Paul.
I haven't used the Ramp before and don't think I will bother this time thanks seeing as my numbers are so low.
I am interested in the EPR! I wasn't but now maybe I could set it seeing as I won't be used to exhaling higher than 6.
I will try setting it for 3, do you think that is fair enough?

Back again, I have done a few changes, this is how my Settings look now:

Mode. Autoset
Max Pressure. 10
Min Pressure. 4
Max Ramp. Off

Start pressure is not lit up

EPR. Full Time
EPR Level. 3

All of that is in blue. Is this ok? Thanks..

RE: Link for setting pressure on Resmed Autoset S9 - DeepBreathing - 07-16-2014

I think that looks OK Gabby, at least for a start. Once you've had a week or so to get used to the new machine you might like to make some adjustments, but get used to it first.

RE: Link for setting pressure on Resmed Autoset S9 - Gabby - 07-16-2014

Cheers Paul, I will give it a go then.
I know they are very low numbers compared to what most other people are on but to me it is all very exciting using my Auto machine for the first time.
Thanks to you and Zonk.
